Elle fournit des informations sur le renforcement des capacités d’intervention dans les écoles, y compris la sensibilisation, la création d'un langage et d'une compréhension partagée, prévoir l’incidence de la diversité culturelle, et le renforcement des partenariats avec les parents et les tuteurs. La ressource partage des informations sur la manière dont les écoles et les autorités scolaires peuvent soutenir la prévention, l'intervention et la postvention du suicide.

Building Strength, Inspiring Hope: A Provincial Action Plan for Youth Suicide Prevention 2019 – 2024 was released in March 2019. One of the actions the Government of Alberta committed to was to support the co-creation of First Nations and Métis youth suicide prevention graphic novels to provide an awareness resource that is reflective of the experiences of Indigenous youth. Children’s Services partnered with Indigenous Story Studio to create two graphic novels related to suicide prevention and mental health promotion; one reflects a First Nations story and the other a Métis story, both with a focus on wellness. The graphic novels were created through engagement with Indigenous youth across Alberta.

In June 2015, Premier Rachel Notley announced that the Alberta Mental Health Review Committee would complete a comprehensive review of the mental health system in Alberta. The Committee released Valuing Mental Health: Report of the Alberta Mental Health Review Committee in February 2016. With guidance from stakeholder consultations and community suggestions, the Committee’s recommendations were synthesized into the 18 actions reflected in Valuing Mental Health (VMH): Next Steps, released in June 2017. VMH: Next Steps aligns with the Government of Alberta's community-based health vision by improving continuity of addiction and mental health services and supports within the health system and in the community. Its actions focus on coordinating and integrating services across health and with community service providers with an emphasis on meeting the needs of vulnerable and underserved groups.

It called on the Government of Alberta to set clear 10-year objectives and targets for health, focusing on reducing risk factors, and to track progress towards those targets. In response, this Framework for A Healthy Alberta sets objectives and targets to guide the Government of Alberta's action in promoting health and preventing disease and injury to the year 2012. As well, regional health authorities and community organizations can use the Framework to guide their policies, programs and services.
