Description

This Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) dataset describes the monthly Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) caseload in Alberta. The AISH program provides financial and health benefits to eligible adult Albertans with a permanent medical condition that prevents them from earning a living.   Caseloads are reported as the actual volume each month and by the Alberta government’s fiscal year. Depending on an individual’s situation, some AISH benefits may also be provided for a spouse or partner and dependent children.   Monthly caseloads are also shown as a portion of the entire Alberta population; and by gender, age, primary medical condition, family composition, employment participation and six service delivery regions across the province.   For locations of AISH delivery regions, choose the Alberta Seniors, Community and Social Services Regions Map within the Resources section.

According to the Continuing Care Regulation under the Continuing Care Act, all licensed type A and type B continuing care home (formerly long-term care and designated supportive living, respectively) operators are legally required to follow the provincial standards. The accommodation standards provide the standards for voluntary, public, and private organizations operating type A and B continuing care homes. The standards direct operators of continuing care homes in the delivery of quality accommodation services to residents. The purpose of the accommodation standards is to ensure that all type A and B continuing care home operators maintain a high quality of accommodation services that promote the safety, security, and quality of life for Albertans living in those continuing care homes. The accommodation standards provide the standards for voluntary, public, and private organizations operating supportive living accommodations in Alberta. The Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) program works with eligible families to provide support and services based on each child and family’s needs. Supports and services are individually determined. The level and nature of support a family receives varies depending on many factors such as the child’s disability and the family’s individual circumstances.   The data goes back to 2018/19 Quarter 1 (April to June) and tracks the cost of accessing services from the FSCD program by service categories (e.g. family support, child-focused services, behavioural/developmental supports, specialized services, and out of home placement) across the province on a quarterly basis.
