Description

Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Suncor Energy Inc. Base Mine Extension. The Project consists of an oil sand mine and associated activities as an extension of the Base Plant operation near Fort McMurray, Alberta. The Project includes an open pit mining operation supplying oil sands to new bitumen froth production facilities (primary extraction). Bitumen froth would be delivered by pipeline to Base Plant for further processing, including secondary extraction and upgrading into various product blends for market. Further integration between the Project and Base Plant includes utilities and water systems. There would be external and in-pit tailings areas on the Project footprint. These facilities would be constructed with a combination of overburden and coarse tailings deposits. Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Syncrude Canada Ltd. Mildred Lake Mine Extension (MLX). Proposal consists of two additional mining areas and affiliated perimeter features within and adjacent to the current operating and approved mining areas. The project is designed to sustain bitumen production levels at the Mildred Lake facility after depletion of the current approved mining areas, which is expected in 2024. Bitumen production capacity would be up to 55,000 barrels per day.

Environmental Impact Assessment and associated applications pertaining to the proposed Alberta Sulphur Terminals Ltd (Hazco) Sulphur Forming and Shipping Facility. The proposal includes the construction and operation of facilities for sulphur forming, storage and shipment for export and is located within the Industrial Heartland area of Lamont County, approximately 2.2 km east of Bruderheim.
