The Alberta Government monitors compliance of forestry-related legislation, regulations and policy directives. Government is required to report all contraventions and non-compliance by disclosing the name of the person or company who has broken the law or specific conditions, the municipality in which the person resides or the company is located, a description of the contravention, and the amount of the penalty.

Director's Order imposed on Maxime St-Hilaire and Chief Wood Finishing Inc to cease entering into prepaid contracts with residential consumers until the licensing requirements under section 104(1) of the Consumer Protection Act have been met, to ensure that all prepaid contracts are in writing and include the terms required by the Act and the Prepaid Contracting Business Licensing Regulation, to ensure all money is refunded to consumers within 15 days after a prepaid contract is cancelled, and to cease doing or saying anything that might reasonably deceive or mislead a consumer.

Description

The Aboriginal Business Investment Fund (ABIF) was established to provide funding to capitalize community-owned business development opportunities. The program offers direct investment into eligible Indigenous community-owned businesses. ABIF is intended for capital projects that are close to starting operations or breaking ground for building projects within the funding year. The projects must demonstrate long-term impacts as follows: increase the number of Indigenous community-owned businesses; increase the number of employment opportunities for Indigenous people; create local revenue streams for Indigenous communities; and strengthen the economies of Indigenous communities. An Indigenous community can only submit one application and business plan for consideration in any given funding year. Funding allocation is based on project evaluation against the scoring criteria and awarded on a competitive ranking.

The following STANDATA were issued under the National Building Code–2019 Alberta edition. STANDATA, which include province-wide variances and interpretations, are specific to the version of the Code that they were issued under. Once a new Code comes into effect, all existing STANDATA are deemed to be obsolete and cannot be used for new construction. They are, however, still valid for evaluating code compliance of existing structures by fire services, insurance companies and by building inspectors in consideration of renovations and retrofits.
