The following STANDATA were issued under the National Building Code–2023 Alberta edition. STANDATA, which include province-wide variances and interpretations, are specific to the version of the Code that they were issued under. Once a new Code comes into effect, all existing STANDATA are deemed to be obsolete and cannot be used for new construction. They are, however, still valid for evaluating code compliance of existing structures by fire services, insurance companies and by building inspectors in consideration of renovations and retrofits.

Subdivision and Development Appeal Boards (SDABs) hear appeals about subdivision and development of land. Although members are appointed by municipal councils, each SDAB operates as an independent and impartial administrative tribunal. SDAB members must apply a wide variety of provincial and municipal land use planning requirements, and in some cases have broad discretion to apply the requirements to achieve appropriate results for particular circumstances. This training manual provides a foundation to train members and clerks to ensure minimum standards of practice for land planning decisions within a tribunal hearing setting.

A consumer alert was issued by the Consumer Investigations Unit against Enviro Paving Corporation and its director, Jason Robert Schoenau. This company has been convicted multiple times for contravening Alberta's consumer protection laws. Their licence has been suspended and a Director's Order has been issued by this office. The company has been known to operate as a prepaid contractor without possessing a licence to do so in Alberta, to provide contracts that don't align with consumer protection laws, to fail to provide refunds, and to engage in unfair practices, which include taking actions and making statements that might reasonably mislead or deceive consumers.

Nulife Quality Care Ltd. is affiliated with the Canadian Home Improvement Credit Corporation (CHICC), which has also been issued a consumer alert by this office.

A consumer alert was issued by the Consumer Investigations Unit against Pitbull Construction Inc. and its directors, Ulysse Jr. Brideau and Elizabeth Jo-Anne Buit. Both directors and the business have been charged with multiple offences under Alberta's consumer protection laws. They are known to take deposits from consumers without possessing a proper licence to do so, to take deposits and not complete any work or to complete little work, to request cash deposits, to provide renovation contracts that don't align with consumer protection laws, and to fail to refund consumers when contracts are cancelled.

A consumer alert was issued by the Consumer Investigations Unit against the Canadian Home Improvement Credit Corporation (CHICC), with associated businesses Nulife Quality Care Ltd. and Alberta Home & Water Solutions Inc. These lenders are not licensed to engage in direct selling activities in Alberta. Investigations into consumer complaints have determined representatives of these companies have solicited, negotiated and concluded rental agreements for the installation and long-term use of home water filtration systems without possessing a licence to do so in Alberta. Financing of those contracts was provided by CHICC.
