Description

Certification is the process used by Alberta Children’s Services to review educational training and competencies to determine eligibility and issue certification towards provincial certification in accordance with the Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Act. Working in licensed child care programs is a regulated occupation. Individuals who work in licensed facility-based and home-based child care programs must hold provincial certification issued by the Alberta Government. The educational requirements for certification as well as the process of applying to be certified are contained in this guide.

Certification is the process used by Alberta Children’s Services to review educational training and competencies to determine eligibility and issue certification towards provincial certification in accordance with the Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Act. Certification is the process used by Alberta Human Services to review educational training and competencies to determine eligibility and issue certification towards one of the three levels of certification in accordance with the Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulation. Staff working in licensed child care programs have six months to be certified, but cannot be left alone to supervise children without certification.
