In August 2013 the Mikisew Cree First Nation submitted an application requesting a review of the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan, which came into force in September 2012. The Government of Alberta responded to this request in June of 2014. This resource contains the reply of the Mikisew Cree First Nation to the government's response.

As per the Alberta Land Stewardship Act, a person who is directly and adversely affected by a regional plan or an amendment to a regional plan may, within 12 months from the date the regional plan or amendment affecting the person comes into force, request a review of the regional plan or amendment.
