The Directive for Reclamation Certificate Site Assessments for Pits and Quarries – Cultivated Lands, directs pit and quarry operators on the requirements for assessing all or part of a reclaimed pit or quarry, in support of a reclamation certificate application. The document provides clarity on the various landscape, soils and vegetation parameters to be measured, thresholds and desired outcomes for each parameter, assessment methodologies and approaches, application pathways, and a framework for providing a professional rationale and justifications to give meaning to the assessment data and support decisions. It is enabled under the Conservation and Reclamation Regulation of the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act and applies to both public and private land.
