Railway (Alberta) Act

Description

This Act governs the construction and operation of all provincial railways, that is, railways that operate solely in Alberta. It defines what is considered a railway as well as separate categories of railway. The Act creates the role of Railway Administrator and empowers the Minister to appoint an individual to that position. A number of powers, limitations, and responsibilities for railway operators are defined, as well as penalties and appeal processes. The Act empowers the Minister of Transportation to create regulations on a number of matters relating to the construction and operation of railways.
