Description

This statistic describes headcounts (unique learners) by institution and academic year within Alberta's publicly-funded post-secondary education system. Headcounts represent the number of students enrolled, and are unique to each level reported, therefore summing up multiple values to "combine" values may lead to double counting, as students can be counted in multiple rows. The data tables presented are related to enrolments in approved programs at publicly-funded post-secondary institutions within Alberta. Separate data files exist focusing on the system level, or for subsets that focus on either international or self-identified Indigenous learners.

Description

The set of statistics in these datasets describe the Full Load Equivalent (FLE) by each institution and academic year within Alberta's publicly funded post-secondary education system. FLE is a measure used to allow for comparable calculations across different institutions, across different programs. The FLE is measured by taking the load of the learner enrolled (instructional hours + practicum hours) and dividing by the full load of that program. This results in a comparable metric to be able to use across the system. The FLE calculation is consistent for every institution and program. The data tables presented are related to enrolments in approved programs at publicly funded post-secondary institutions within Alberta. Separate data files exist focusing on the system level, or for subsets that focus on either international or self-identified Indigenous learners.

Separate data files exist focusing on the system level, or for subsets that focus on either international or self-identified Indigenous learners.

This data set reflects child care programs in Alberta licensed under the Child Care Licensing Act (prior to February 2021) and under the Early Learning and Child Care Act (February 2021 and after).   Data prior to February 2021 included reflects child care programs in Alberta licensed under the Child Care Licensing Act. Program types under the Child Care Licensing Act included day care programs, out-of-school care programs, preschool programs, group family child care, family day homes (approved by a licensed family day home agency), and innovative child care programs.   In February 2021, child care licensing changed from program-based to facility-based under the Early Learning and Child Care Act. There are now four types of licenses: facility-based programs, group family child care programs, family day homes (approved by a licensed family day home agency), and innovative child care programs. Description

These datasets track the percentage of students that completed any credential program within the completion timeline given the number of students in the completing cohort by institutions and credential-program type combination. The datasets thus employ a "backward tracking" algorithm to determining completion rates: cohorts are determined by the year the students are supposed to complete their programs, not by the year they start their programs. Separate datasets are provided at the institutional level and sector level for all students and for full-time students.
