Description

The Alberta Foodborne Illness and Risk Investigation Protocol provides the framework for a coordinated response to outbreaks linked to food in Alberta, should a coordinated response be deemed necessary. It provides guidance in response to outbreaks linked to food products traded interprovincially, exported from Alberta or imported and distributed within Alberta, and is designed to be used in response to suspected or confirmed multi-jurisdictional foodborne illness outbreaks or food safety risks in Alberta. It was developed by Canada-Alberta Partners in Food Safety, a partnership agreement between the Government of Canada, represented by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Health Canada, and the Government of Alberta, represented by Alberta Health, Alberta Health Services, and Alberta Agriculture and Forestry.

The forest management planning area under consideration is FMA 7500020. The FMP includes the FMA and non-FMA portions of Forest Management Unit (FMU) W14, collectively known as the Defined Forest Area (DFA). The DFA is located within the Upper Athabasca, and Upper Peace Land-Use Framework planning regions in west central Alberta; it falls within the Upper Foothills, Lower Foothills, and Central Mixedwood Natural Subregions.

Forest company forest management plans (FMPs) detail when, where and how timber on Alberta Crown land will be managed in order to balance social, economic and environmental needs based on input from the public, Indigenous peoples and interest groups. The forest management planning area (FMA) under consideration is Blue Ridge Lumber Inc. FMA 7500020 is located in the west central part of the province, and spans portions of three natural sub-regions including the Central Mixedwood, the Upper Foothills and the Lower Foothills. The Landscape Assessment component of the Detailed FMP describes the planning area in greater detail.

Forest company forest management plans (FMPs) detail when, where and how timber on Alberta Crown land will be managed in order to balance social, economic and environmental needs based on input from the public, Indigenous peoples and interest groups. The forest management planning area under consideration is FMA 0100038. The FMP includes the Forest Management Agreement and non-FMA portion of FMU B12, collectively known as the Defined Forest Area (DFA). The DFA is located in southern Alberta primarily within the South Saskatchewan Land-Use Framework planning region. There are approximately two and a half townships of the northern tip of FMU B12 within the North Saskatchewan Land-Use Framework planning region and approximately five sections scattered along the east side of FMU B12 that fall within the Red Deer Land-Use Framework planning region. The DFA falls within the Alpine, Subalpine, Montane, Upper Foothills and Lower Foothills Natural Subregions.

The FMP includes the FMA and non-FMA portion of Forest Management Unit (FMU) G16, collectively known as the Defined Forest Area (DFA). The DFA is located entirely within the Upper Peace Land-use Framework planning region in west central Alberta; it falls within the Alpine, Subalpine, Montane, Upper Foothills, Lower Foothills, Dry Mixedwood and Central Mixedwood Natural Subregions.

The Forest Management Unit (FMU) C5 2006 Forest Management Plan (FMP) was prepared by the Crown. Under the new Forest Management Agreement (FMA) 2100047 – effective May 1, 2021 – Crowsnest Forest Products Ltd. is required to submit an FMP in accordance with the forest planning standards for the Minister's approval on or May 1, 2025. The 2025 FMP will replace the 2006 FMP. FMPs detail when, where and how timber on Alberta Crown land will be managed in order to balance social, economic and environmental needs based on input from the public, Indigenous peoples and interest groups. FMU C5 is located within the South Saskatchewan Land-use Framework planning region in southern Alberta and falls within the Montane, Alpine and Subalpine Natural Subregions.

The forest management planning area under consideration is FMA 9000028 allocated to West Fraser Mills Ltd. (Slave Lake), (formerly known as Slave Lake Pulp Corporation). The FMP covers Forest Management Unit (FMU) S20 in north central Alberta. It is located almost entirely within the Upper Athabasca Land-Use Framework planning region. There is a small area in the southwest corner of FMU S20 that falls within the Upper Peace Land-use Framework planning region. It falls within the Upper Foothills, Lower Foothills, Central Mixedwood and Dry Mixedwood Natural Subregions
