The Alberta Government monitors compliance of forestry-related legislation, regulations and policy directives. Government is required to report all contraventions and non-compliance by disclosing the name of the person or company who has broken the law or specific conditions, the municipality in which the person resides or the company is located, a description of the contravention, and the amount of the penalty.

A Crown land reservation is a tool under Section 18(c) of the Public Lands Act, to identify a management intent that will inform and provide direction to potential land users and regulatory bodies as authorized under the Public Lands Act. A reservation is not a disposition, does not grant any rights to public land or rights to access or occupy public land or rights to the resources on the land or under it. The Crown Land Reservations dataset displays reservations under application or active with their associated data attributes allowing users to view and access existing or proposed reservation information that could influence their application if a proposed activity intersects. The Government of Alberta’s Policy on Consultation with Metis Settlements on Land and Natural Resource Management, 2015 (Policy) was released in the Spring of 2016. To fully implement the Policy, the Government of Alberta has developed these Guidelines, along with sector-specific consultation matrices (Appendix A of this document). The Guidelines were modeled after the First Nation consultation guidelines, and support clarity of roles, transparency and consistency for all stakeholders involved in the consultation process.
