The Métis Credible Assertion Capacity Funding Grant focuses on increasing capacity for Métis organizations that are already in the Métis Credible Assertion process and have provided material submissions to the Alberta government. The grant will provide opportunity for participating Métis organizations to recover expenses incurred in the compilation of their assertion.

This document summarizes what was heard from participants and presenters during the Indigenous Primary Health Care Innovation Forum, held in Edmonton on January 10 and 11, 2023. The purpose of the forum was to discuss current challenges in Alberta's primary health care system for First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, and to identify innovative solutions from other jurisdictions to address these challenges. Results of the forum will also inform inform the Indigenous Primary Health Care Advisory Panel's final report to the Minister of Health.

The Responsible Energy Development Act (REDA) was proclaimed in part on June 17, 2013. Further parts of REDA were proclaimed on November 6, 2013 and March 29, 2014. After the Act was proclaimed, the AER became the single regulator for upstream oil, gas, oil sands and coal projects in Alberta. The AER is responsible for regulating energy resource developments under the specified enactments (Public Lands Act, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, Water Act and Part 8 of the Mines and Minerals Act) from initial application to reclamation. The Act also creates a registry for landowners to register private surface agreements and ensure companies comply with commitments set out in the agreements. The Act defines the Regulator's governance structure which separates corporate, operational, and governance responsibilities from adjudicative functions (i.e., hearings on energy applications). The Indigenous Lake Monitoring Program (ILMP) was developed in response to Indigenous communities’ concerns about the quality of lakes of local importance as well as the Community-Based Monitoring & Knowledge teams’ mandate to explore opportunities to work together with Indigenous communities to advance environmental stewardship. The ILMP aims to support and enable stewardship and management of Alberta’s lakes based on the best available Indigenous and scientific knowledge. From 2016-21, staff from CBM&K, Watershed Sciences and Watershed Monitoring units within the Airshed & Watershed Stewardship Branch worked with community technicians from four First Nations (Bigstone Cree Nation, Cold Lake First Nations, Whitefish Lake First Nation, Dene Tha' First Nation) to collect and report on water chemistry, physical measurements, and biological samples on seven lakes in Northern Alberta.
