Description

The Alberta Senate Election Act provides a process for Alberta voters to elect Senate nominees in conjunction with a provincial or municipal election, in a standalone process or with a referendum. Once Senate nominees are elected, their names are provided to the King’s Privy Council for Canada for consideration when filling Senate vacancies.

This Act allows the Lieutenant Governor in Council to order a referendum on constitutional questions and requires a referendum before the Legislative Assembly can vote on any resolution authorizing an amendment to the Constitution of Canada. Description

This regulation established the qualification criteria for individuals to hold the position of designated officer. Designated assessors working on behalf of municipalities must declare annually to the Minister of Municipal Affairs, their name, and qualifications to carry out duties as per the instruction in the Assessment Quality Minister’s Guidelines. The regulation outlines the following qualification criteria: holds the Accredited Municipal Assessor of Alberta (AMAA) or Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE) issued by the International Association of Assessing Officers or Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute (AACI) issued by the Appraisal Institute of Canada, or other qualifications and/or experience that are deemed equivalent by the Minister of Municipal Affairs.
