They constitute the methods used to implement decisions made in forest management plans and other higher-level plans such as integrated resource plans. Forest management agreements are authorized by Section 16 of the Forests Act and constitute the most secure form of forest tenure in Alberta. These long-term timber dispositions cover most of Alberta's Green Area, or the forested portion of Crown land, and allocate more than two thirds of the province’s annual allowable cut. This policy sets out the process leading to the minister exercising discretion under Section 16 of the Forests Act to enter (or renew), or not enter (or not renew) a forest management agreement.

Forest management agreements (FMAs) are authorized by section 16 of the Forests Act and constitute the most secure form of forest tenure in Alberta. These long-term timber dispositions cover most of Alberta’s Green Area, or the forested portion of Crown land, and allocate more than two thirds of the province’s annual allowable cut (AAC). This Forest Management Agreement Decision Policy sets out the process leading to the Minister exercising discretion under section 16 of the Forests Act to enter (or renew), or not enter (or not renew) an FMA.

The standards apply to all provincially-licensed meat facilities and provide a firm foundation for good manufacturing and hygienic practices. They allow operators to control and prevent relevant food safety hazards and to identify meat-borne risks to human health ultimately resulting in improved food safety.
