Description
Forest management agreements are authorized by Section 16 of the Forests Act and constitute the most secure form of forest tenure in Alberta. These long-term timber dispositions cover most of Alberta's Green Area, or the forested portion of Crown land, and allocate more than two thirds of the province’s annual allowable cut. This policy sets out the process leading to the minister exercising discretion under Section 16 of the Forests Act to enter (or renew), or not enter (or not renew) a forest management agreement.
