The Government of Alberta’s Policy on Consultation with Metis Settlements on Land and Natural Resource Management, 2015 (Policy) was released in the Spring of 2016. To fully implement the Policy, the Government of Alberta has developed these Guidelines, along with sector-specific consultation matrices (Appendix A of this document). The Guidelines were modeled after the First Nation consultation guidelines, and support clarity of roles, transparency and consistency for all stakeholders involved in the consultation process.

The purpose of the Northern and Regional Economic Development Program is to enhance economic conditions and leverage regional resources to build capacity for sustainable economic development and diversification. This guidelines document explains the intention of the program, what entities are eligible to apply, and when applications will be accepted, and describes the types of projects that are eligible to apply. It also describes the application process, how applications are assessed, and the parameters around funding for successful applicants.
