Description

In Alberta, equalized assessment is the means of comparing property wealth in a uniform manner for all municipalities. Alberta uses an ad valorem assessment and tax system where property taxes are based on wealth and wealth is measured by the value of property expressed as an assessment. Equalizing an assessment is simply a process of adjusting each municipality's taxable assessment to a common year in accordance with current legislation and policy. The equalization process results in a common provincial assessment base that is used to determine the amount of requisition for each requisitioning body.

(ASC is a wholly owned subsidiary of United Industrial Services Ltd. (UIS).) ASC is authorized to explore the silica sand under Metallic and Industrial Minerals Permit No. 9393080332; ASC is authorized to extract the silica sand under Metallic and Industrial Mineral Lease No. 9496110001; and to surface develop, on Crown land, the sand pits and the processing plant required under Mineral Surface Lease No. MSL 941817. The lease area comprises approximately 1300 hectares (3200 acres), 300 ha (740 acres) on the west side and approximately 1010 ha (2500 acres) on the east side of the Peace River. Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed St. Mary River Irrigation District Chin Reservoir Expansion project. Chin Reservoir is an off-stream storage reservoir that is located roughly in the middle of St. Mary River Irrigation District (SMRID) irrigation network, approximately 30 kilometers (km) east of Lethbridge and 15 km south of Taber. The Chin Reservoir Expansion Project (the Project) involves the construction of a new dam which would result in a larger reservoir. The new dam would be approximately 40 meters (m) in height and is expected to inundate (flood) approximately 650 hectares (ha) of privately held land within Chin Coulee.
