Description

This dataset tracks the percentage of students who completed any credential program at an Alberta publicly funded post-secondary institution within the expected completion timeline (typical duration of the program plus an additional three years). This rate is calculated based on the number of completers and the total number of students in the starting cohort. It is determined at both the sector and institution levels for all students, including full-time students.

This statistic describes headcounts (unique learners) by institution and academic year within Alberta's publicly-funded post-secondary education system. Headcounts represent the number of students enrolled, and are unique to each level reported, therefore summing up multiple values to "combine" values may lead to double counting, as students can be counted in multiple rows. The data tables presented are related to enrolments in approved programs at publicly-funded post-secondary institutions within Alberta. Separate data files exist focusing on the system level, or for subsets that focus on either international or self-identified Indigenous learners.

This data set reflects child care programs in Alberta licensed under the Child Care Licensing Act (prior to February 2021) and under the Early Learning and Child Care Act (February 2021 and after).   Data prior to February 2021 included reflects child care programs in Alberta licensed under the Child Care Licensing Act. Program types under the Child Care Licensing Act included day care programs, out-of-school care programs, preschool programs, group family child care, family day homes (approved by a licensed family day home agency), and innovative child care programs.   In February 2021, child care licensing changed from program-based to facility-based under the Early Learning and Child Care Act. These datasets track the percentage of students that completed any credential program within the completion timeline given the number of students in the completing cohort by institutions and credential-program type combination. The datasets thus employ a "backward tracking" algorithm to determining completion rates: cohorts are determined by the year the students are supposed to complete their programs, not by the year they start their programs. Separate datasets are provided at the institutional level and sector level for all students and for full-time students.

The annual results and participation rates for diploma examinations administered to students in Alberta schools. Diploma results and participation rates are aggregated into separate reports for the following levels: provincial, school authority, and school. Data elements are suppressed (represented as N/A) if fewer than six students are included in the calculation. The diploma exam results data includes the number of students writing, the percentage of students achieving the standard of excellence and the acceptable standard, the average percentage mark, and basic statistical attributes. These elements are included for both the school-awarded and the diploma exam marks for diploma courses in each of the past five school years.
