High School Enrolment by Post-Secondary Service Region

Description

A student cohort is a group of students who are registered in a specific grade at a public, separate, Francophone, charter, provincial, federal or accredited private school. Service regions are defined areas of the province that provide a framework for better understanding local factors relating to learning and programming at a regional level. In consultation with stakeholders, regional boundaries were drawn based on Dissemination Area (DA) boundaries and the area generally served by Comprehensive Community Institutions.

Usage Considerations

Alberta Advanced Education's inclusion criteria used to determine results by region is different from Alberta Education's inclusion criteria for the provincial result. As such, the sum of the results by region may not equal to that of the provincial result. Students registered in Lloydminster schools located in Alberta are not included in the cohort. Starting with 2013-2014, the definition of an Alberta student was changed. As such, student population results may now include students who are 19 years of age or older.
