This Act establishes maximum electric energy rates that may be charged to regulated rate customers (as defined in the Rate of Last Resort Regulation) or specified customers of the City of Medicine Hat, during a four-year period beginning on June 1, 2017. The Act contemplates regulations to provide payments from the Minister to regulated rate option providers or to the City of Medicine Hat of the difference between amounts that would have been charged to these customers using the regulated rate or equivalent, and the amounts charged using the maximum rate(s) specified in the Act.
