Certification is the process used by Alberta Children’s Services to review educational training and competencies to determine eligibility and issue certification towards provincial certification in accordance with the Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Act. Working in licensed child care programs is a regulated occupation. Individuals who work in licensed facility-based and home-based child care programs must hold provincial certification issued by the Alberta Government. The educational requirements for certification as well as the process of applying to be certified are contained in this guide.

The consultations took place between June 15 to July 15, 2020 and included virtual engagement sessions and online surveys. This report presents a summary of the results from the child care consultation process.
