Update report on Alberta Environment's upstream oil and gas reclamation certificate program

Description

The Province introduced reclamation certificates in 1963 to promote reclamation of industrially disturbed private lands, and expanded the program in 1978 to include public lands. Between 1963 and 2010 over 82,000 reclamation certificates have been issued in Alberta. This report looks at the history of the reclamation certificate program, describes performance measures used to evaluate program outcomes, and highlights other efforts, including stakeholder consultations, to review and improve the program.
