  In response to scams in which individuals have approached homeowners misrepresenting themselves as Government of Alberta inspectors, the Government of Alberta has banned direct sales (door-to-door) of furnaces and related products and services (including water heaters, air conditioners, windows, energy contracts and energy audits), effective January 1, 2017.  This tip sheet provides information for consumers to help protect themselves from these scams, and explains how to file a consumer complaint.
