Ecological response to human activities in southwestern Alberta : scientific assessment and synthesis

Description

This assessment provides an objective review and synthesis of published scientific data and information examining the environmental impacts associated with human disturbance in the Castle region of southwestern Alberta, Canada. The Castle region is defined here as Castle Provincial Park and Castle Wildland Provincial Park, a combined area of 1,052 km2 (Alberta Environment and Parks 2017b). The Castle region is highly valued by a variety of stakeholders with a diversity of objectives including wilderness conservation and ecological integrity, agricultural and industrial production, and recreational activities such as camping, hiking and off-highway vehicle use.
