Description

The Historical Watershed Boundary Maps consists of the watersheds printed colour maps within Alberta that were delineated as part of the Phase 3 Forest Inventory program. The maps have been scanned in black and white as well as colour. This product can be viewed on a computer, printed or plotted in part or in whole. All available maps are provided in Adobe PDF and Tif format sorted by the National Topographic System (NTS) 1:50 000 and 1:250 000 blocks within downloadable WinZip files. This series is not updated and contains a range of publication dates and scales. Approximately 2/3 of the series is currently available. the rest of the Historical Watershed Boundary Maps are missing. These will be scanned and added to the collection if they become available. These maps are not available as geo-referenced rectified images or GIS-ready data.

The Historical Watershed Boundary Maps consists of the watersheds printed colour maps within Alberta that were delineated as part of the Phase 3 Forest Inventory program. This dataset is produced for the Government of Alberta and is available to the general public. Please consult the Distribution Information of this metadata for the appropriate contact to acquire this dataset. Riparian areas consist of the lands adjacent to streams, rivers, wetlands and lakes that are strongly influenced by the presence of water. They are often distinct from the surrounding landscape as the vegetation growth is very lush. These areas form a transition between dry land and open water and are characterized by the presence of hydrophilic vegetation and specific soil types. Riparian areas are usually very productive in terms of biomass and form critical wildlife habitat. These areas often have standing water and are subjected to periodic flooding when high water levels fill the stream channel to the top of the bank. The term 'riparian' is derived from the Latin word for river bank. Riparian areas provide valuable food, shelter and travel corridors as well as close...

This information is used in the development of management tools (plant community guides, ecosite guides, natural subregion maps, range health tools etc.) to ensure Alberta’s public lands are being managed sustainably. ECOSYS also summarizes the raw plot information into Ecosite Guides for each subregion in the province.

Description

This Alberta Official Statistic describes the Alberta Natural Gas Reference Price as an average Alberta gas plant price calculated using the purchase prices at the Alberta Market Hub on the Natural Gas Exchange (NGX). This price is used in the calculation of royalties. The Natural Gas Reference Price has been the primary source of valuing Alberta Crown gas royalties since January 1994. In October 2002, the Gas Reference Price was replaced by In-Stream Component (ISC) Reference Prices as the primary method of valuing the Crown’s share of natural gas. The Gas Reference Price is still used to calculate the ISC Reference Prices and as a default royalty value.
