Description

The Crown's Right of Recovery (President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance) Regulation provides the calculation for the assessment factor to be charged on automobile insurance premiums written in a calendar year for the purposes of recovering health costs from insurers in accordance with Division 2 of Part I of the Crown’s Right of Recovery Act. The Regulation also establishes the date by which automobile insurers are required to pay the recovery amount to the Crown, the penalty for failing to pay on time, and the calculation of interest to be charged on an unpaid amount and penalty.

The budget requirements include: preparing a three-year government strategic plan and three year ministry business plans, both with performance measures, preparing the fiscal plan on the same basis as the year-end financial statements and requiring three-year forecasts, assumptions on which the forecasts are based and their related sensitivities, and the forecast of government debt. The Act requires the Estimates / fiscal plan to be tabled in the Legislative Assembly prior to the end of February, and quarterly and mid-year fiscal and economic updates to be published on or before the end of August, November and February.
