The main objectives of this manual are: to ensure that aerial surveys carried out on forested lands in Alberta adequately record damage caused by a wide spectrum of damaging agents; to ensure that survey procedures carried out in different forest areas remain uniform and comparable; and to document timing, planning and procedures for carrying out aerial surveys on forested land in the Green Area of the province.

Description

In June 2011, the updated 2010 Reclamation Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities for Cultivated Lands, Forested Lands, and Native Grasslands were released. The Reclamation Criteria Advisory Group recommended that the 2010 criteria be reviewed periodically and updated as necessary as knowledge of ecosystem processes improves. Throughout the 2011 field season, questions relating to the three 2010 Criteria along with their assessment tools were tracked and these questions and answers have been compiled into this document. Other frequently asked questions on the application form and peatlands have also been included.

Description

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on reclamation certification criteria (forested lands in the Green Area) for oil and gas wellsites and access roads, and associated facilities such as borrow pits, campsites, and off-site (remote) sumps. Although many of the factors are relevant, it is not intended as a construction guide. This document should, however be considered when planning for oil and gas construction. This guide also applies to oil production sites, and will be in effect until revisions to the 1995 Reclamation Criteria for Wellsites and Associated Facilities have been completed and implemented.
