These reports summarize the Canadian Ambient Air Quality Standards status for Alberta’s air zones for ambient concentrations of fine particulate matter, ground-level ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and sulphur dioxide. These reports also summarizes the status of air quality in relation to the Air Quality Management Frameworks currently in place in Alberta: the Lower Athabasca AQMF supporting the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan and the South Saskatchewan AQMF supporting the South Saskatchewan Regional Plan.

The regional planning process set out in the Alberta Land Stewardship Act provides for directly-affected Albertans to request a review of a land-use plan. The Government of Alberta received six requests for review of the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan Review (LARP). A panel was appointed to consider these requests for review and provide recommendations to the Government of Alberta on whether each of the six applicants is directly and adversely affected by either a specific provision or provisions in the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan. This report, released in June 2015, presents the findings and recommendations of the panel.

The Government of Alberta is reporting to Albertans on the results of a technical investigation of air trigger exceedances for Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) at air monitoring stations in the Lower Athabasca Region (LAR) for the year 2012. The investigation was initiated under the Lower Athabasca Region Air Quality Management Framework for Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Sulphur Dioxide (SO2) (LAR AQMF) and helps fulfill a commitment made in the Lower Athabasca Regional Plan to initiate a management response when annual assessments indicate triggers or limits have been exceeded. The monitoring results are found in the 2012 Status of Ambient Environmental Conditions report. The air quality investigation followed the first two steps (verification and preliminary assessment) in the management response and recommendations from the investigation will inform the selection of mitigative management actions. A review panel was appointed in June 2014 to consider the six review requests and to provide recommendations to the Government of Alberta. As part of their work, the panel could request further information to permit a full and satisfactory understanding of the matters in the review. This record contains the panel's fourteenth request for information, directed to all First Nations. It also includes the response received to the information request from the First Nations as well as replies to the responses from the Government of Alberta.
