The Government Estimates report the requirements for public monies from the General Revenue Fund to fund the operations of the Government for the applicable fiscal year. Together with the Offices of the Legislative Assembly Estimates, the estimates documents identify the total requirements for public monies from the General Revenue Fund for the year. The estimates make up part of the Government’s annual budget, which also includes the fiscal plan, the government’s strategic or performance plan, and the ministry business plans. Note: Supplementary information on financial entities and consolidation adjustments has been moved into a separate Entity Financial Information volume published in electronic form. See the Related tab.

The Government of Alberta's Budget 2022 is aimed at moving Alberta forward by strengthening the province's health-care system, getting more Albertans to work, and bringing Alberta's balance sheet back into the black. A new initiative called Alberta at Work will help Albertans take advantage of economic growth and prosperity and give them more opportunities to build their skills, pursue their passions and support themselves and their families. The documents in this record include the Government of Alberta's fiscal plan and strategic plan for 2022, ministry business plans, highlight documents and the budget address. NOTE: the 2021-22 Fiscal Plan Update was added on March 17, 2022 to reflect supplementary amounts for electricity rebates and supporting the Ukraine relief effort. Updates also capture additional forecasted transfers from the budgeted contingency.

Focus is on ensuring that the province's health care system is properly resourced to continue the fight against COVID-19 and to protect the lives of Albertans. Budget 2021 also includes significant support for Alberta's Recovery Plan to support jobs today and tomorrow. A strategic focus on key economic sectors will set the stage for post-pandemic recovery. In addition, sound fiscal anchors of net debt to GDP, aligning our per capita spending with other major provinces and re-establishing a plan to balance the budget post-pandemic, will protect the health of Alberta's finances.
