These profiles provide detailed demographic and socio-economic information for Alberta's 87 provincial electoral divisions. Data have been specifically tabulated from the 2016 Census of Canada. Provincial electoral divisions are territorial units represented by an elected Member to serve in the Alberta Provincial Legislative Assembly.

The map in this information product illustrates the location of Alberta's 87 provincial electoral divisions. Electoral boundaries are defined by the Alberta Election Act, Chapter E-1, 2018. Provincial electoral divisions are territorial units represented by an elected Member to serve in the Alberta Provincial Legislative Assembly. The provincial electoral divisions used in this information product were enacted in December 2017 and will come into effect for the 2019 provincial general election.

The maps in this information product illustrate the location of Alberta's 87 provincial electoral divisions. Electoral boundaries are defined by the Alberta Election Act, Chapter E-1, 2018. Provincial electoral divisions are territorial units represented by an elected Member to serve in the Alberta Provincial Legislative Assembly. The provincial electoral divisions included in this information product were enacted in December 2017 and will come into effect for the 2019 provincial general election.

This Alberta Official Statistic describes the proportion of population based on language spoken most often at home in each economic region as reported in the 2011 population census. Alberta is divided into eight economic regions as follows: Lethbridge – Medicine -Hat; Camrose-Drumheller; Calgary; Banff – Jasper – Rocky Mountain House; Red Deer; Edmonton; Athabasca – Grande Prairie – Peace River; and Wood Buffalo – Cold Lake.

Description

This Alberta Official Statistic uses a 5-year extended Facility Condition Index (FCI) value to report the physical condition of government owned or supported facilities. The FCI was adopted as a common measure to enhance reporting by enabling the Ministry of Infrastructure to compare condition ratings across facility types (health facilities, schools, post-secondary institutions and government owned facilities). The FCI is a ratio of the cost to address current and future (five year) maintenance needs, relative to facility replacement value. FCI’s are translated to good, fair and poor ratings based on the “interpretation of FCI Values” stated below. The percentages are calculated by taking the square metres of all facilities in good, fair or poor condition (as defined by FCI) and dividing each by the total area of all buildings within each facility type.
