Presents results of an aerial survey for moose conducted between January 28 and 29, 2023. The survey was conducted in Wildlife Management Unit 353, in west-central Alberta. The objective of the survey was to update the population estimate and ratio for sex and age classes of moose since the last survey was completed in 2016.

Aerial surveys are the primary method used to assess the population size, distribution, population trends and herd composition of ungulates in Alberta. This information supports the effective management and conservation of ungulates, and is used to set hunting licence allocations, identify areas with agricultural depredation problems, and determine priority areas for recovery actions.
