All available bathymetry and related information for Muir Lake were collected and hard copy maps digitized where necessary. The data were validated against more recent data (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission 'SRTM' imagery and Indian Remote Sensing 'IRS' imagery) and corrected where necessary. The published data set contains the lake bathymetry formatted as an Arc ascii grid. Bathymetric contours and the boundary polygon are available as shapefiles.

Description

The objective of the project was to gather sufficient data within each of the eight water bodies to make it possible to determine if each water body has appropriate habitat (depth and water quality) to support stocked fish throughout the year. The recorded information will also determine which fish species would be best suited for stocking based on habitat conditions. The eight lakes that were assessed were Dolberg Lake, Salter’s Lake, Muir Lake, Cardiff Park Pond, Black Nugget Mine Pit Lake, Dillberry Lake, Blood Indian Creek Reservoir, and Tyrell Lake. To achieve the project objective, a bathymetry survey and several water quality profiles at different seasons throughout the year were completed for each lake.
