Fall index netting (FIN) is conducted regularly to monitor walleye and northern pike populations. The abundance of adult fish as determined by the netting is used to help determine the risk to the long-term sustainability of the fish population in a lake. This report presents the results of netting conducted in 2012 on Gleniffer Lake.

Description

In response to a pipeline break and subsequent discharge of light crude oil into the Red Deer River near Sundre, Plains Midstream Canada and Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development implemented a surface water quality monitoring program beginning June 8, 2012. This interim report examines results collected up to June 16, 2012. Also includes a followup interim report which updates the June report with data collected up to July 6, 2012.

The abundance of adult fish as determined by the netting is used to help determine the risk to the long-term sustainability of the fish population in a lake.
