This submission outlines Alberta's concerns regarding the federal government's amendments to the Competition Act resulting from Bill C-59, the Fall Economic Statement Implementation Act, 2023. In it, Alberta identifies significant flaws in the amendments, negative impacts to costs, investment, competitiveness, and regulatory certainty, as well as duplication of legislation and regulations Alberta has in place that ensure accurate and supported environmental reporting. The submission supports Alberta's position that the amendments add new barriers, impede progress to achieving environmental outcomes, and encroach on provincial jurisdiction.

This dataset lists the names of regulated organizations and facilities that have received program support in past compliance years, as well as the type(s) of support provided to each facility. Program support types include: Additional Compliance Flexibility – Under CCIR and TIER, the quantity of credits (Alberta-based emissions offset credits and emissions performance credits) an organization may use to comply with the true-up obligation for a regulated facility in any compliance year is limited by a compliance flexibility limit threshold. This greenhouse gas emissions dataset shows area fugitive emission from tailings ponds and mine face at the oil sands mining facilities in Alberta. The data were reported between 2011 and 2021 under the Technology Innovation and Emission Reduction Regulation and preceding regulations in Alberta. The produced bitumen and the diluent flared/wasted volumes reported in the Alberta Energy Regulator's statistical report ST-39 are included in the dataset for reference.

Description

The regulation addresses licences for fishing (recreational, commercial, subsistence), fish culture (specified fish held live for sale for human consumption), research, import of aquatic invasive species (AIS), fish stocking, salvage fishing and competitive fishing events. It also addresses the transportation, handling, marketing, processing, storage, preservation, sale and disposition of fish and AIS. Licence requirements are established to conserve wild fish stocks, protect them from exposure to diseases and parasites, prevent invasive species from becoming established, and prevent illegal introductions and to ensure edible fish are properly handled and preserved for human consumption. It and the Fisheries (Ministerial) Regulation complement each other and overlap on subject material.

Description

The regulation establishes licences (and their fees) to authorize fishing (recreational, commercial, subsistence), fish culture (specified fish held live for sale for human consumption), research, import of aquatic species, fish stocking, salvage fishing, and competitive fishing events. It also defines certain terms that are used in the Fisheries (Alberta) Act and in the regulations, sets out record keeping requirements for fish culture facilities, sets out the identification requirements for fishery officers, fishery guardians and watercraft inspectors, and houses unique measures to prevent invasive species becoming established. In the last two Schedules, fish that are classified as cultured fish and bait fish are identified.

This fact sheet summarizes requirements and provides suggestions for effective weed prevention and management on industrial sites along with easy-to-access resources. It provides information on developing a weed control plan; assessing and identifying weeds; cleaning construction equipment; using seeds free of weeds; options for weed control; and selecting herbicides and soil amendments used for reclamation appropriate for future land use.
