This Children and Family Services dataset provides an overview of the number of children and youth receiving child intervention services by type of care and sex.   Child intervention services are focused on the well-being of children, supporting families to be healthy and ensuring children grow up in safe and nurturing homes.   The data shows the average monthly number of Indigenous and non-Indigenous children and youth in the province who are receiving child intervention services. More specifically, it shows the number in temporary care, permanent care and receiving services while at home (not in care) with historical information dating back ten years. There is a further breakdown by the number of children served by sex.   Information is available through the links listed below as aggregate data in excel, as visualizations in CI Interactive Data Tool and as descriptions of data fields and elements in the Data Dictionary.

This Children and Family Services dataset provides an overview of the number of Indigenous and non-Indigenous children and youth achieving a permanency outcome. The child intervention system is part of Alberta’s system of support for families that encourages good outcomes for children and youth. Child intervention services are focused on the well-being of children, supporting families to be healthy, and ensuring children grow up in safe and nurturing homes. Intervention services are provided when there are concerns that a child or youth is being neglected or abused by their parent or guardian, with the goal of keeping families together (family preservation), returning children home safely (family reunification), or finding other permanent homes through legal permanency (adoption, private guardianship and termination of PGO/PGA) for children as quickly as possible. This Children and Family Services dataset provides an overview of the number of children and youth receiving post-intervention support through Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) Agreements, by Indigenous status (Indigenous and Non-Indigenous). Young adults aged 18 to 24 who were previously involved with child intervention may be eligible for ongoing supports through TAP Agreements. This Children and Family Services dataset provides an overview of the number of children and youth receiving post-intervention supports through Transition to Adulthood Program (TAP) Agreements, by sex. TAP Agreements are available to young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 who were involved with child intervention services to help support them in fully reaching their independence. Support is most often financial, but may also include community supports along with the assistance of a caseworker.   The data shows the average monthly number of young adults in the province who are receiving post-intervention support through a TAP Agreement. More specifically, it shows the number by sex with historical information dating back ten years.   TAP was implemented in the 2022-2023 fiscal year, and fully replaces Support and Financial Assistance Agreements (SFAA). Biomonitoring provides a measure of internal doses of environmental chemicals or agents and allows for a more accurate measure of human health risk from these exposures. In these Alberta Biomonitoring Program datasets, information was collected as part of 3 province-wide studies investigating the serum levels of environmental chemicals (both natural and synthetic) in pregnant women in northern, central and southern Alberta (Phase 1), in children in southern Alberta (Phase 2), and maternal and umbilical cord blood samples from 7 Alberta cities (Phase 3). The goals of the program are to create a benchmark against which to track future exposures, provide a starting point for assessing health risks, indicate possible exposure sources and prioritize research efforts. Chemicals targeted for monitoring were selected using expert guidance and review of similar studies.
