The Cultural Heritage Initiatives Program (CHIP) is meant to increase community and public access to this history by helping non-profit organizations document and showcase Indigenous and ethnocultural communities’ cultural heritage with an emphasis on historically underrepresented parts of Alberta's story.

The Other Initiatives Program (OIP) provides financial assistance for community-based projects that fall outside the scope of other community grants funding streams administered by Culture and Status of Women, including one time projects, international disaster relief and, projects that are emergency or urgent in nature. The program guidelines includes information on eligibility requirements, matching requirements, application procedures, conditions of funding for successful applicants, and financial reporting requirements.

Description

On November 8th, 2022 at the 40th Annual Meeting of Federal-Provincial-Territorial Ministers responsible for the Status of Women, ministers endorsed the National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence; a ten-year, collaborative approach to ending gender-based violence. The Department for Women and Gender Equality Canada is funding provinces and territories to supplement and enhance services and supports within their jurisdictions to prevent gender-based violence and support survivors. The purpose of the agreement is to support Alberta's implementation of the National Action Plan based on our specific context and priorities.
