The AgriProfit$ Business Analysis and Research Program collects information that is used to generate key cropping benchmarks for the major soil zones of Alberta. Annual benchmark reports enable producers to compare their productive, economic and financial performance to similar farming operations locally and provincially. Benchmark analysis is the first step in identifying cropping strengths and weaknesses. These reports contain cost and return information, and farm level financial performance.dry

Although not a reportable or notifiable disease, Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae more commonly referred to as M.ovi, is a bacterium that can contribute to respiratory disease infections in domestic sheep/goats that generally do not cause significant losses in these flocks/herds. In wild bighorn sheep, however, M.ovi infection can be fatal, and can be the cause of whole-herd die-offs. This fact sheet discusses symptoms, mode of transmission, and who to contact if a producer suspects that they may have M. ovi in their domestic flock/herd. It increases awareness of the dangers this disease could pose to wild bighorn sheep populations located in close proximity to domestic sheep/goats, and provides contact information that can be used by sheep/goat producers to access available funding programs for testing/fencing, etc if they are located in/near bighorn ranges.

Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a fatal, transmissible, and progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting domestic cervids such as elk and deer. Recognising the seriousness of this reportable disease in the animal population, the federal government developed the CWD Herd Certification Program (HCP) in order to create clear and consistent national standards to support the domestic cervid industry through integrating good animal husbandry with sound biosecurity practices designed to avoid or minimise the spread of CWD. Provinces are empowereed to administer their own programs in an effort to tailor the Program to address specific regional needs while also maintaining conformity with national standards. This comprehensive manual provides clear and accurate advice to Alberta owners and cervid farm operators contemplating enrolment and those who are currently enrolled in the Program.
