Le rôle principal du Cadre directeur pour la conception et l’élaboration du curriculum provincial de la maternelle à la 12e année (Programmes d’études), appelé dorénavant le Cadre directeur, est d’établir une orientation commune pour l’élaboration du curriculum provincial et de l’exprimer en un langage simple sans perdre le degré de complexité conceptuelle qui convient aux enseignants professionnels. Les principaux publics de ce document sont les concepteurs de programmes, les parents et tuteurs, les administrateurs d’école et d’autorité scolaire et les enseignants.

Description

The Wabasca Community Stewardship Project is a collaborative co-creative partnership between Northland School Division and Bigstone Cree Nation Education Authority facilitated by Alberta Education. The goals of this partnership are twofold. Northland School Division and Bigstone Cree Nation Education Authority collaboratively co-created a digitally based learning and teaching resource focused on Learning from Place within the Bigstone Cree traditional territories. Alberta Education recorded the development process so that a curriculum development model that engages students, educators and community stakeholders incorporating local traditional knowledge and expertise can be used by other jurisdictions for similar undertakings. This report chronicles the process undertaken in the development of the Wabasca Community Stewardship Project, and identifies learnings to carry forward to future collaborative community curriculum development activities.

The Kindergarten learner expectations describe learnings that are appropriate for young children and are part of a learning pathway. Some children are already developing, or have developed, some of the learnings described in the Kindergarten Program Statement. Most children will achieve these learnings before they enter Grade 1. Others will continue to develop them during the primary school years. The Kindergarten program not only helps prepare children for entry into Grade 1, but also provides a foundation for later success.
