The NADC Area dataset is a polygon that represents the designated area of the Northern Alberta Development Council. a council established on March 29, 1963 by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. The Council is mandated 'to investigate, monitor, evaluate, plan and promote practical measures to foster and advance general development in northern Alberta and to advise to Government accordingly' (Northern Alberta Development Council Act, 2000)

Description

Economic multipliers are used to assess the impacts on the economy of an exogenous change in final demand or output of a given industry. Based on the Input-Output (I/O) tables released by Statistics Canada, they provide a measure of the interdependence between an industry and the rest of the economy. Multipliers for the Alberta economy have been developed using the Alberta Treasury Board and Finance Input-Output (I/O) model. Impacts are estimated in terms of total output, gross domestic product, employment and labour income. There are two main types of economic multipliers provided in the dataset: 1) Open model (direct and indirect impacts), and 2) Closed model (direct, indirect and induced impacts). Starting with the 2008 publication, a supplemental set of multipliers was added to the dataset: under a Closed model with a “Safety Net”, these additional multipliers incorporate the assumption that new jobs were filled by people previously receiving employment insurance, effectively...

Description

This Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) dataset describes the monthly Income Support caseload in Alberta, including two client groups: those Expected to Work (ETW) and those who have Barriers to Full Employment (BFE). Income Support provides financial benefits to individuals and families who do not have the resources to meet their basic needs, like food, clothing, and shelter. The caseload is defined as the number of households categorized as ETW or BFE during a specific reporting period. Most commonly, this is reported as the average volume for a specific period (e.g., annually).   The composition of the caseload is made up of single individuals, lone-parent families, couples with children and couples without children. In April 2018, a breakdown of the number of caseloads by SCSS Regions was added to provide greater context.   Please Note: All regions report that the primary factor for reduced Income Support caseloads from April-2020 is due to Albertans...

This Seniors, Community and Social Services (SCSS) dataset describes the monthly Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) caseload in Alberta. The AISH program provides financial and health benefits to eligible adult Albertans with a permanent medical condition that prevents them from earning a living.   Caseloads are reported as the actual volume each month and by the Alberta government’s fiscal year. Depending on an individual’s situation, some AISH benefits may also be provided for a spouse or partner and dependent children.   Monthly caseloads are also shown as a portion of the entire Alberta population; and by gender, age, primary medical condition, family composition, employment participation and seven service delivery regions across the province.   To see a map with seven AISH delivery regions, choose the Alberta Seniors, Community and Social Services Regions Map within the Resources section.

Description

The Riparian Area Assessment of Red Deer River watershed includes the Buffalo, Kneehills, Little Red Deer and Threehills subwatershed. This project focused on assessing riparian habitat along lake, creek, stream and river shorelines. This dataset was created for the Red Deer River Watershed Alliance as a part of a large scale riparian area assessment in Alberta. The overall goal of this project was to quantify and characterize the intactness of riparian management areas in the Red Deer River watershed. Riparian habitat was assessed along approximately 5,285 km of shoreline within the Buffalo, Kneehills, Little Red Deer, and Threehills subwatersheds. These four subwatersheds cover an area of ~11,754 km2 and are located in central Alberta, roughly between Ponoka and Airdrie.
