This resource is intended for those in Alberta that have a professional interest in or are working on wetland conservation and management, including, wetland mapping and inventory development. The document defines the standards for classification, minimum mapping unit, and classification accuracy, to promote consistency and improve data quality in wetland mapping at a provincial scale within the Prairie/Parkland and Boreal/Foothills zones of Alberta.

The satellite remote sensing workshop brought the developers and potential clients of these satellite remote sensing products together to collectively identify opportunities for satellite remote sensing deployment in subsequent years. The workshop discussions focused on measurements of wetland, greenhouse gases, and air quality. The outcomes of the workshop will be used to inform how satellites can be used to improve the scientific value, rigour, costs and confidence of monitoring and optimization of monitoring results.

As outlined in the transition period directive for professional responsibilities in completion and assurance of wetland science, design and engineering work in Alberta, professional experience gained prior to registration with a Professional Regulatory Organization will be accepted as contributing toward the five year experience requirements, provided that the conditions listed in Table 1 are met.
