The Alberta Activity Index (AAX) closely tracks economic activity. Developed by Alberta Treasury Board and Finance, it is a weighted average of nine monthly indicators (employment, average weekly earnings, retail trade, wholesale trade, manufacturing, new truck sales, housing starts, rigs drilling and oil production). Presents results of a study aiming to explore the lived experiences of English language learning working women as they relate to health and safety. Study findings contribute to an evidence-based understanding of workplace psychosocial hazards to the wellbeing and health of English language learner women workers. The overall goal of the study was to consider how to mitigate and prevent harm caused by workplace psychosocial hazards and explore if there are workplace hazards that may disproportionately impact ELL women workers.

The study is based upon an online poll conducted between March 24 and April 5, 2017 on behalf of the researchers by a commercial polling company. The respondents comprised 2,000 Albertans engaged in paid employment in the previous 12 months.
