Description

All local governments are eligible for Canada Community-Building Fund (CCBF) funding. The program provides conditional grants for capital-related projects which meet program eligibility criteria. CCBF funding is allocated to local governments on a per capita basis with each community receiving a base funding amount. The annual program budget is subject to Canada advising Alberta of the yearly provincial funding. Local governments are advised of their annual CCBF funding allocations after Alberta's funding has been confirmed by Canada and specific funding allocations have been authorized by the Minister of Alberta Municipal Affairs.

In 2020, the Municipal Affairs Population List was discontinued following the repeal of the Determination of Population Regulation. With the approval of the new Municipal Census Regulation in 2023, Municipal Affairs resumed the publication of the Municipal Affairs Population List.

The benchmark to establish costs for the Alberta 2001 Metal Buildings Cost Manual are typical 2001 replacement costs in the Edmonton area. The manual uses the full cost pricing of all typical building components including conventional mark-up. If supply and demand for buildings are relatively equal, the cost approach should establish a cost base given short-run fluctuations in supply and demand.
