Description

The OHS Futures Research Funding Program provided a grant to the researcher to design an objective parameter to detect and quantify fatigue using purely kinematic information rather than electromyography (EMG)-based parameters, design and develop an experimental procedure to validate the new parameter against the EMG signal and rating of perceived exertion, experiment with various work condition scenarios to investigate the efficiency of the proposed kinematic parameter in muscle fatigue detection, and validate the accuracy of the wearable inertial measurement units (IMUs) in collecting the proposed kinematic (movement) parameter against the camera-based motion capture system for a long-term material handling task.
