This notice from from the Chief Medical Officer of Health provides information on exemptions and clarifications to recently-released health orders related to restrictions on mass gatherings and physical distancing as they apply to licensed residential addiction treatment facilities. Note: This notice references CMOH Orders 05-2020, 06-2020 and 07-2020. Order 06-2020 was rescinded by Order 10-2020; and effective April 28, 2020, residential addiction treatment facilities were removed from Order 10-2020 and are now covered under CMOH Order 13-2020. See the Related tab for these orders.

Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Suncor Energy Inc. Lewis project. The proposal is for in situ extraction with an estimated total bitumen production of 160,000 bpd and an operational life of up to 40 years. The project would be developed in four phases, supported by cogeneration of electricity to be constructed within the first two phases. Project components include gas fired steam generation including some cogeneration, water treatment and recycling, bitumen treatment, multi-well production pads, steam delivery pipelines, product recovery pipelines, local access roads, and borrow pits. Description

Environmental assessment registry documents pertaining to the proposed Canadian Natural Resources Limited (Canadian Natural) Pike 2 project (formerly Devon Canada Corporation). Canadian Natural is proposing a new in situ oil sands project in the Southern Athabasca Oil Sands region. To recover bitumen resources from the McMurray formation, steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) technology and diluent co-injection and cogeneration would be employed. The Project would include a central processing facility (CPF), well pads, source water and disposal well sites, pipelines, roads and power lines. The Project is expected to produce up to 70,000 barrels per day (bpd) of bitumen. For more information on the environmental assessment process visit ea.alberta.ca.

Published monthly, the Online bulletin lists upcoming appeals scheduled to be heard by the Law Enforcement Review Board. The LERB is an independent quasi-judicial body established under the Police Act. Its principal activity is to hear appeals for both citizens and police officers separate and apart from the police service involved. The principal objective of the board is independent and impartial review. Note: LERB in-person hearings were suspended in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hearings, by videoconference, resumed in January 2021.
