This information sheet describes the roles, responsibilities and regulatory expectations of the parties involved in the handling and disposing of hydrovac waste. Hydro excavation (hydrovac) involves using a combination of high-pressure water and vacuum technology to excavate soil, and is typically used to locate and expose existing underground infrastructure or for the installation of new underground infrastructure. Hydrovac waste is the slurry waste created in the sub-surface soil excavation process.
