PLEASE NOTE: These policies and documents are revised as new research and national recommendations become available. Please ensure you are always referencing the current version of the document. The Government of Alberta’s Policy on Consultation with Metis Settlements on Land and Natural Resource Management, 2015 (Policy) was released in the Spring of 2016. To fully implement the Policy, the Government of Alberta has developed these Guidelines, along with sector-specific consultation matrices (Appendix A of this document). The Guidelines were modeled after the First Nation consultation guidelines, and support clarity of roles, transparency and consistency for all stakeholders involved in the consultation process.
