Description

Certification is the process used by Alberta Human Services to review educational training and competencies to determine eligibility and issue certification towards one of the three levels of certification in accordance with the Alberta Child Care Licensing Regulation. Staff working in licensed child care programs have six months to be certified, but cannot be left alone to supervise children without certification.

This document provides the framework for the evaluation and scoring of child care programs participating in Alberta child care accreditation against the accreditation standards. The Government of Alberta contracts the delivery of accreditation assessment services to an accrediting organization that will use this framework to develop tools and processes to evaluate and award provincial accreditation status to eligible child care programs.

It explains the tools available to licence holders during the term of their licence, as well as what to expect when a program is in non-compliance to the legislation and enforcement action is taken. And it includes a glossary of terms used in the Child Care Licensing Act and Regulation.
