Aquatic invasive species (AIS) and fish disease pose significant risks to the conservation and sustainability of our native species and their habitat. This manual provides consistent protocols for the inspection and cleaning of vehicles, watercraft, and water-based equipment, which will help prevent the spread of AIS during all field activities of government staff. The manual is accompanied by a quick reference guide, an equipment list, and a map of aquatic invasive species decontamination risk zone.

The intent is to make a scientific contribution to the knowledge and understanding of the Muskeg River system, and of potential oil sands development effects, in view of the level of development proposed for this basin.
