Description

Local Family and Community Support Services programs and projects address local priorities based on social needs. When developing programs and projects, outcomes must be identified that relate the program’s statement of need and overall goal, and measures must be included as a way of evaluating the effectiveness of the program. This document provides a measures bank that can be used for this purpose, and includes instructions on how to integrate these measures into a program logic model.

The purpose of this guide is to support local Family and Community Support Services program staff in working with outcome measurement. FCSS is a funding partnership between the Government of Alberta and participating municipalities or Métis Settlements. Under FCSS, communities design and deliver social programs that are preventive in nature to promote and enhance well-being among individuals, families, and communities. Reporting on outcomes is mandatory for local FCSS programs.

The Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations' (CCVO) Alberta Nonprofit Surveys take an annual snapshot of the health and experience of Alberta's nonprofits and charities and capture information on finances, demand for services, staffing, and the future economic outlook of organizations. These surveys help illustrate the changes occurring in Alberta's nonprofit sector. The 2013 survey has been prepared for Alberta Human Services and is based on an analysis of the information provided by the 136 social service respondents to the survey.
